In or Out?
On average, urban residents spend vast majority of their time indoors. Even their commute may be in buses or trains rather than cycling or walking. Yet time outdoors is one of the best things you can do for your physical and mental health. It's not always comfortable, especially in dense cities, or in case of air pollution or if there are lack of open public spaces such as gardens & playgrounds.
If you will adapt you will grow. In evolution, the term survival of the fittest may be misunderstood. It is not those who are strongest and most firm to their practices--but those who are most willing to learn and adapt to changing scenarios and changing circumstance--who survive. Otherwise, creatures would never learn to fly nor humans learn to walk on their two legs. It was adaptability that got us all spread across the breadth and width of this planet, including in hostile lands, extreme temperatures and distant tiny islands. Adaptability helped modern humans survive the transition to industrial revolution or later the computerization at workplace, etc otherwise people would've just sat at home as unemployed.
So try and take your exercise outdoors as much as you can. It can deliver fitness benefits other than the gym or home workout. It will beat any probable onset of physical or mental illness. No more cardiovascular risks nor concern for depression.
Also, there is the social aspect of such exercises, the comradery and in case of team sports, the cultivation of co-ordinated efforts to achieve a common agenda. All of these will benefit any community, neighborhood, city and nation.
So get out, get going and get fit.
